Ey compas,
Saludos desde la energética y brumosa Ciudad de México, con los vochos verdes escabullendose por las calles, sabiendo que sus días están contados (los quitarán en 2011). El arte está en todos lados: en el metro, en los bares, en los periódicos.
Montamos el estudio aquí en Coyoacán, preparando la segunda mitad del tour por México. Mucho ha sucedido últimamente.
Primero queremos introducirles a Emtron, un DJ amigo de los días de Arizona de Logan quien nos acompañará por la gira. Tenemos varios eventos de “Sonidero Verbobala”… para los que no lo han visto esta locura es nuestro proyecto “fiestero”. Cumbia ‘n Bass, balkanica, ritmo y visuales. Logan (DJ / MC), Moi (DJ / MC / VJ) y Adam (VJ / mysticismo) en plena acción fiestera. Tendremos un demo en linea pronto. Emtron estará pinchando los viniles con nosotros en Cholula y después en la Ciudad de México donde tocaremos el 8 de oct. con Ruth’s Selecta.
Después el sábado 11 de octubre tocaremos en la clausura del 4o festival Poesía.en.Voz.Alta en la Casa del Lago de la UNAM en Chapultepec. Estamos muy emocionados con éste festival, el más grande de su tipo en México, y cuando tocamos el año pasado nos sorprendió gratamente la respuesta del público. Este año preparamos varias piezas nuevas de spoken video especiales para éste festival, seguramente será el espectáculo más importante que hemos hecho. ¡Caéle!

El tour termina el 20 y estaremos en proyectos personales hasta el 2009 cuando Barak entre a la Casa Blanca. Amigos gringos: no olviden votar por el candidato de su elección.

we greet you from smoggy and energetic Mexico City. The green VW bugs are busy in their scurry across the city, knowing that their days are numbered (they’ll be replaced by 2011). Art is everywhere: digital storytelling in the subway, dubstep in the bars, poetry in the newspapers.
We’ve set up a studio here in Coyoacán, where we’re getting set for the second half of the Mexico tour. A lot has happened lately.
First off, we’d like to introduce you to Emtron, a DJ friend from Logan’s Flagstaff days who will be with us on tour in Mexico. We have a number of “Sonidero Verbobala” shows lined up… for those of you who haven’t seen the craziness yet, Sonidero Verbobala is our party side project. Cumbia ‘n bass, balkan horns, ritmo and visuals. Logan (DJ / MC), Moi (DJ / MC / VJ) and Adam (VJ / mysticism) in full fiesta action. We’ll have a mixtape online soon. Emtron will be laying down the vinyl goodness with us in Cholula and again in Mexico City where we play on the 8th with Ruth’s Selecta.
Then on Saturday, October 11th we’ll be closing the 4th annual Poesía.en.Voz.Alta festival at UNAM (Mexico’s national university) Casa del Lago in Chapultepec (Mexico City’s Central Park). We’re very excited about this. The festival is the largest of its kind in Mexico, and when we played last year we were blown away by the audience’s response. This year we’ve prepared several new spoken video pieces specifically for the festival, it just might be the biggest show we’ve done yet. Buy a plane ticket and come for the weekend!

Qué ondas compas,
Saludos desde Hermosillo, Sonora, donde estamos encerrados en una casa pirateando el internet del vecino y trabajando en nuevo material para el próximo tour en México. La familia de Adam nos hospeda generosamente y nos mantiene racionados con hartas tortillas de harina y buenas historias familiares. Lo agradecemos profundamente.
Tenemos varias cosas nuevas que mostrarles, empezando con el nuevo demo “Border Remixeado”. Es el show que hemos venido mostrando a lo largo del año, al que estamos agregando y remixeando nuevas cosas. También se encuentra en youtube.
Y para los más clavados, hay un nuevo podcast Verbobala, en donde iremos agregando videos de vez en vez. Se pueden inscribir al podcast usando iTunes. Aqui están las instrucciones. También chequen la nueva sección de propaganda y el menú para contrataciones.
La próxima semana tendremos una serie de eventos y conferencias en la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. Donde estaremos presentes los 3 del grupo. Aquí está el flyer. Amigos de Nuevo Mexico y Texas, hágan el viaje!
Luego en Septiembre Adam y Logan subirán a Tucson para un performance con nuestro grupo hermano Flam Chen, para juntar fondos para el Festival de Todas las Almas. Aquí está ese flyer. Será el ultimo performance de Verbobala en USA para el 2008, ya que estaremos viajando por México todo Octubre, y después enfocándonos en proyectos personales lo que resta del año.

Hello from Hermosillo, Sonora where we are locked in a house pirating internet from the neighbors and working on new material for the upcoming Mexico tour. Adam’s family is generously hosting us and keeping us plied with wheat tortillas and family stories. A big thanks to them!
We have a lot of new dirt for y’all to check out, starting with the new “Border Remixeado” demo. Border Remixeado is the show that we have been touring for most of the year, which we’re currently expanding and remixing. It’s on YouTube as well.
And for the particularly nerdy, there is now the new Verbobala podcast, which we’ll be using to release random video bits from time to time. You can subscribe to the podcast using iTunes, instructions are here. Also, check out the new propaganda section and booking menu.
Next week we’ll be kicking off a week of performances, workshops and conferences at the Autonomous University of Cd. Juárez. Given that it’s in Mexico, all three of us will finally be able to perform together again. Click here for the flyer. New Mexico and Texas friends: take a road trip!
Then in September Adam and Logan will pop up to Tucson for a performance with our sister group Flam Chen, at a fundraiser for the All Souls’ Procession. Flyer here. It will be the last Verbobala performance in the US for 2008, as we’ll be touring Mexico through October, then focusing on solo projects until the end of the year.

“Border Remixeado” demo

Aquí está el demo del show que hemos presentado a lo largo del 2008, que se llama “Border Remixeado.” Es una serie de videopoemas cortos que se tratan del desierto de Sonora, migración, México, Arizona, Spanglish y la identidad moderna. Dura alrededor de 40 minutos total. “Border Remixeado” está desponible para presentaciones.
Here you have the demo for the show that we have toured for most of 2008, called “Border Remixeado.” It is a series of short video-poem pieces about the Sonoran desert, immigration, Mexico, Arizona, Spanglish and modern identity, and runs about 40 minutes total. “Border Remixeado” is currently available for booking.
